Riley Newman, 31, hails from Whidbey Island, Washington, and now resides in Gilbert, Arizona, where he's made an undeniable mark in the pickleball world. Growing up in a large family with five sisters and one brother, sports were at the core of his upbringing. He excelled in basketball, baseball, and tennis, eventually earning a division 1 tennis scholarship at Seattle University. Following his senior season, he coached the men’s & women’s tennis team at his Alma Matar.

In 2017, Riley was introduced to pickleball by his friend (Mark Cook), and his transition from tennis to pickleball was seamless. His natural athleticism and tennis background helped him quickly climb the ranks. After playing pickleball for two days, Riley teamed up with his sister Lindsey and clinched gold in a 5.0 mixed doubles tournament, showcasing his innate talent for the sport. From that moment on, pickleball became his passion.
